Located in southeast of Hebei Province, the city of Cangzhou boarders Beijing and Tianjin to the north, Bohai Sea to the east and Shandong Province to the south. It is 181 kilometers long and 165 kilometers wide. Because of its location on the lower reaches of Heilonggang watershed, its soil texture is made of moisture soil, saline soil and costal saline soil.
As the traditional specialty of Cangzhou, the golden thread small jujube’s planting history can be traced back to 3000 years ago. The sweet and fragrant jujube, also named Hexi red date, got the name because there are yellow lines within the ripe fruit. After long term cultivation and selection of better breeds, the jujube has become a representative of local products and won international fame.
Cangzhou golden thread small jujube has been awarded Product of Geographical Indication by State Administration for Market Regulation while Cangzhou is named“Capital of Chinese Jujube”by China Fruit Marketing Association.
