Gaocheng Palace Lantern is a special handicraft for Gaocheng County, Shijiazhuang. It came into being in Eastern Han Dynasty and flourished in Sui and Tang Dynasty. It’s called Palace Lantern because it is sent to the palace as a kind of tribute.
The lantern has strong local flavor. Represented by beautiful-shaped Tuntou palace lantern , it experienced a process from handmade to scale production and it becomes easier and easier to take them around. The lantern had the honor to be hung on Tiananmen Gate and used for decoration during 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
The lantern enjoys a long history while in the new age, Gaocheng palace lantern research and development center initiated a new product called“paper carving palace lamp”which won three national patents. The lantern became franchised products during Beijing Olympics in 2008 and Shanghai World Expo in 2010 respectively.
